Harmony Ranked in Top Schools in State

U.S. News and World Report announced the Best High Schools in Texas for 2017 and -- once again -- Harmony Public Schools leads the pack with 17 of its campuses named among the top 200 schools in the state.

At the top of the list sits Harmony Science Academy in El Paso, ranked as No. 15 in the state and No. 94 in the nation, earning the title of Best School in El Paso. Its sister-school across the state, Harmony School of Innovation in Sugar Land, came in at No. 31, and No. 158 in the U.S.

Charter and magnet schools made up 60 percent of the top 100 schools in the nation, despite only representing 16 percent of the 6,000 schools nationwide, according to a U.S. News and World Report article.

U.S. News and World Report ranks campuses based on students’ college readiness upon their high school graduation, along with student proficiency in English and math. Nearly 85 percent of Harmony Science Academy in El Paso students graduate college ready, followed closely by Harmony School of Innovation in Sugar Land at 74 percent.

“I am so proud of our teachers and staff across the state who work tirelessly to provide an excellent education for our students. We will never quit working to provide students with access to high-quality STEM education,” Zekeriya Yuksel, Superintendent of Schools.
