Katy campus wins Houston Rockets' Food for Families Food Drive for third time

The generosity of students Harmony Science Academy – Katy was seen across Houston this holiday season after they collected 3,000 items of non-perishable food this November winning the Houston Rockets Food for Families Food Drive for the third time.

This was the third year the campus -- formerly known as Harmony Science Academy West Houston -- rallied to help those struggling through the holidays, winning first place each time. For their efforts, the Rockets provided 50 free tickets to a basketball game for Katy students.

The food was given to Casa de Esperanza and Target Hunger, who both anticipated an increased need this year from the families they serve.

And although every student contributed to the food drive, fifth-grader Hani, took all the money he was saving for a skateboard and donated five bags of food to the Rocket's Food drive.

“I really wanted families to have plenty of food this Christmas,” he said.
