School Nurse Helps 3rd Grader See Clearly

Through a little extra effort from one of Harmony’s school nurses a Houston student can now see her world a little more clearly.

Third-grader at Harmony School of Endeavor, Alexa G., lost her glasses four years ago, but her family hasn’t been able to replace them.

Her school nurse, Norma Pena, gave the third-grader a standard vision screening and realized she needed eyeglasses badly. Concerned Alexa wasn’t getting the full value of her education due to her vision problems, Pena tracked down the nonprofit Eye Care of Kids Foundation and asked them for help. They were happy to oblige.

Alexa now has a new set of glasses and is working to keep them clean. “Everything looks better now and I see the world differently,” she said.
